Kurtos Kalacs (kürtős kalács) traditional for Romanian Hungarians from Transylvania pastry baked in a cylindrical shape usually prepared over an open fire. Kurtos Kalac is an integral element of Hungarian holidays and public events, such as the Christmas market. It is also cooked in some bakeries and cafes. In the United States and Canada, it’s known under name of Chimney Cake. Sprinkled with sugar, Chimney Cake is most often found with vanilla and cinnamon. In the Czech Republic, it is known as Trdelnik.
